Breanna Shanque

MSW, RSW

My journey into motherhood has been anything but typical. I experienced pregnancy loss with my first pregnancy and had to navigate grief while continuing to try and grow my family. I learned that I was not alone and many more have also experienced loss. When I became pregnant again I experienced a range of emotions including fear, worry and also hope. After welcoming my son into the world, I came to understand the complexities of postpartum. Despite the challenges, I also learned so much about myself and saw strength I did not even know I had.

Your world changes the moment you find out you are expecting. Having a space to process these feelings and find ways to move forward is key. I support people as they journey through the different stages of parenthood.

My Approach

My goal is to work with you to identify your needs and focus on areas that are most important to you. Therapy sessions with me are relaxed, informative, and collaborative. I meet you where you are at and we go from there, together. Your experiences are unique to you and I want to support you in learning more about yourself as you journey through parenthood. I understand how complex this journey is and I want you to know that you do not have to do it alone.

I use a variety of approaches in session, but tend to lean on my knowledge of Thanatology (death, dying, and bereavement studies) as well as Mindfulness-Based CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). Many clients I support choose to focus on areas such as pregnancy and infant loss, postpartum, relationship conflict, burnout, anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, life transitions, and more. Connect with me to learn more, I would love to be part of your support team!
